Udhaar reminder messages in Hindi and English (polite, ready to copy)
Asking for your own money shouldn't feel awkward, but it often does. A short, polite message with the exact amount and an easy way to pay works far better than a vague "bhai, hisaab kar do". Here are messages for each stage; change the name, amount and UPI ID and send them from your WhatsApp.
Step by step
- 1
Know the exact amount
Before you message, check the balance and the oldest entry. "₹1,240 since 3 October" is easier to accept than "thoda sa baaki hai".
- 2
Start gentle
The first reminder is a nudge, not a demand. Use their name, say the amount, and give a way to pay.
- 3
Make paying easy
Add your UPI ID or a payment link. The fewer steps, the sooner people pay.
- 4
Follow up on a fixed day
If nothing comes, send the next reminder after a week. Pick a time when people are free, like late morning, not late at night.
- 5
Stay polite at the last stage too
A final reminder can be firm and give a date, but keep it respectful. They are still your customer, and others may read the chat.

Get these right
- Send from your own number, to one person at a time. Group messages about someone's dues embarrass them and rarely work.
- Say thank you when they pay. It makes the next reminder easier.
- Don't threaten, and never share someone's dues with other customers.
- If someone disputes the amount, send them their entries so you can settle it calmly.

Questions
How do I write an udhaar reminder politely?
Use the customer's name, say the exact amount, give an easy way to pay (your UPI ID), and thank them. Keep the first message gentle; get firmer only on later reminders.
How often should I send reminders?
About once a week works for most shops: a gentle first message, a clearer second one after a week, and a final one with a date if needed.
Is it okay to remind customers on WhatsApp?
Yes, if you message them one to one from your shop's number. Avoid groups and keep the message polite.
